A blog about a baby, a toddler, a boy, expat life, corporate lawyering and football. Brought to you by Deirdre and Doug.
After the party we came home and Nat opened all his gifts-you can see that I am looking pretty large these days.
Here he is with his playmates ... everyone is cramming potato chips into their faces, along with bits of cheese. The party was at our local gym's creche.
This was pretty much Nathaniel's mood for most of his party. He had developed a raging chest cold with a mild fever so he wasn't in the most "party" of spirits. In fact when we got him to the creche he laid down on the ground and started saying "Home" over and over again in a very plaintive voice.
Homemade-baked by Mommy, frosted by Daddy. We snacked on it for almost a week. He liked requesting his Thomas cake.
So his big present from us was an expansion of his train set. We added a bridge a lot more track, dual track capability and a windmill. We now have half of our living room given over permanently to his railroad.
Here's Nat on his actual birthday morning. Doug went into work late and we opened up family presents in the morning. He especially enjoyed the box of treasures from Granny and Poppa which had all sorts of cool surprises, including his first Bob the Builder truck and a hat that he could wear. We followed up in the afternoon with cupcakes with his buddies at the park. Nat then had a giant flip over a railing onto a concrete walkway that gave me a heart attack and him a giant scrape across his forehead that he sported for the rest of the week. After two minutes of real screaming, Nat decided the only way to make his head feel better was to eat two more chocolate cupcakes.
We moved Nat into his own big boy bed (actually a toddler sized version with mini sides). He liked the concept of the bed, just not staying in it while there was a whole room to trash. This is on day three, when after tearing his room apart for an hour and 45 minutes, he passed out in a stupor on the floor.
Being ripped up for the new pipes for the boiler system ... We like living in a work in progress.
Here's our living room ... post damp proofing. Yes we paid good money to have it look like this.
They had a travelling fun fair in Battersea Park in August and Nathaniel went with his buddy Arthur. This was by his favorite ride ... he was not happy with the surprisingly fast and scary rolling carousel. It was more like a bobsled ride than any carousel I remember riding on. Nat is like me ... he likes being in control.
Here we are at the train station heading home from our day out at the Castle. Nathaniel has a little take along Thomas the Tank Engine that we now can't leave the house without. His Thomas obsession only grows stronger each day.
Here's me and Nathaniel exploring the grounds of Hever Castle. (Its a really cool place to visit). What I love about this photo is the sense of Nathaniel charging off ahead into the wilderness, but he's still dragging me along with him.
Here they are ... the founders of the Davidson dynasty. Happy Anniversary to a wonderful couple and here is to the next 25 years.
Here we are at Mom and Dad's anniversary party. Nathaniel is in bad, so that I could enjoy myself and dance a bit. I think we look like a pretty cool family.
Here's Nathaniel and I at Aunt Melinda's house in Florida. Nathaniel has just been enjoying the tastiness of Jello pudding snacks (why oh why can't we get them over here?) He had a great time playing with his cousins that week in Florida.
Here's Nat at his Nathan and Zahan's birthday party in July. He has been slowly conquering his fear of ball pits .... although he still doesn't like the sensation of getting stuck. Here he is sliding down into the ball point ... I am pretty sure Daddy is off camera, awaiting a potential rescue.
