Not a terrorist

Nathaniel's nationality is difficult to pin down. He's at least potentially Irish because of Deirdre's and my highly-derivative-but-entirely-legitimate Irish citizenship. He's also automatically British, as he was born in the UK to "Irish" parents.

But least surprisingly, he is an American, and was confirmed as such on 22 December once we established to the US Embassy's satisfaction that Nat was not a terrorist. Mostly this involved a demonstration of our knowledge of ACC hoops (the vice-consul in change of such affairs was a Wolfpack man). Good thing they covered that in Charm School ...

Oh, but we didn't stop with festive hats. Seeing Santa was a lot more difficult than we anticipated. First, we went to Hamleys (a gigantic toy store on Regent Street in London) on the first Saturday in December. This was a major mistake on our part.

Then, we realized that being sophisticated Sloanies, we should do what everyone else in the neighborhood did, namely, make an appointment with Santa at Daisy & Tom. Luckily we managed to secretly snap our own photo. Dodging a few of Santa's security elves, Deirdre came back with the goods.

Despite what you may have believed as a result of the update schedule of this blog (I was exiled to the continent for a good portion of December), the festive season in the Davidson-Smith household began early. Nat good-naturedly agreed to wear a festive hat to commemorate the occasion. If we manage to get Christmas cards out -- probably sometime in March -- you'll get a version of this atrocity.
